Several aftermarket 12 volt product categories are expected to grow this year in dollar sales to dealers, according to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).
Amplifier sales are forecast to gain by five percent to $190 million, up from $180 million in 2023, according to the 2024 CTA forecast. OE integration units are also expected to gain by three percent.
The category of aftermarket Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) should grow by four percent this year. It includes a number of sub categories that are also due to see an uptick in 2024 including dash cameras that are expected to grow by six percent.
Aftermarket vehicle security/remote start is also forecast to gain slightly by three percent due to the growing rate of vehicle thefts in some markets, said the CTA.
Rear view back up camera sales, however, are forecast to fall by 8 percent.
Other areas expected to see a dip in sales to dealers this year include head units, with a six percent decline in sales to dealers, dropping to $679 million, and speaker sales, with a two percent dip.
CarPlay/Android Auto adapters are forecast to remain flat at about $11 million wholesale.
In total, the aftermarket is expected to account for $2.7 billion in sales to dealers in 2024 (we excluded the category of portable GPS in the tally).
