DS18 is shipping a new Elite Z series of subwoofers designed for competition as well as every-day listening.
Power handling starts at 500 watts RMS for an 8-inch, 4 ohm subwoofer with dual voice coils in either a sealed or ported enclosure. A 10-inch model steps up to 750 watts RMS, a 12-inch moves to 800 watts and a 15-inch model handles 1,000 watts RMS, said DS18.
The subwoofers have a reinforced carbon fiber dust cap that is light weight but tough enough to avoid cone deformation. It delivers less distortion than most subwoofers, said the company.
