New SiriusXM In-Car Receiver

SiriusXM will ship in the first part of Q2 a new in-car receiver that supports easier installation, and which adds a Bluetooth connection.

A new RoadyBT receiver includes the radio chipset in the cigarette lighter cable instead of in the source unit itself.  The result is only one cable connection is required versus two or three, as in the past, said Paul Trueman, National Manager at SiriusXM.

Also, users can now connect to audio via Bluetooth instead of through an FM modulator or auxiliary input.

Finally, users can also now use a magnetic mount from companies such as Scosche and Mob Armour rather than just the dash mount and vent clip options that come with the device.

The RoadyBT is expected to retail at $99.

It will be joined by a version for truckers called the Road Dog BT that includes a universal mirror antenna mount, which will simplify installation of the antenna on most semi trucks.

Aftermarket SiriusXM consumers will also now get a choice of service promotions.  In addition to the current, three months initial free trial, consumers can opt for an introductory 12-month plan for $99.
