Pioneer Intros New Receivers

Pioneer will ship this month two new in-dash floating 9-inch radios: a full featured model and a budget version.

Pioneer said its research found three main features that consumers want and that drive the aftermarket. These are CarPlay, wireless CarPlay and large screen formats, according to Pioneer Director of Marketing, Hazim Jainoor.

The new DMH-WT3800NEX is a full featured mechless (no CD/DVD) receiver with wireless CarPlay and wireless Android Auto plus WebLink for third party apps. It is compatible with Maestro and Metra Axxess interfaces.

The receiver is the first in the industry, said Pioneer, to let the user choose between dark and light screen modes, not just for CarPlay but for the radio user interface.  This can provide greater visibility in daylight glare.

The receiver’s HD display has a resolution of 1024 x 600 and supports split screen viewing so you may view CarPlay and radio modes  on the same screen, for example.

The deck uses a 48-bit dual-core DSP for tuning and a 13-band graphic equalizer plus it has Hi-Res Audio playback capability flexibility (WAV, DSD, FLAC).

The DMH-WT3800NEX also includes:

  • Rear USB 2.0 port for smartphone connectivity (1.5A maximum current capability), audio playback of MSC/MTP devices, and software updates
  • Rear AV input
  • Rear camera input with selectable/customizable parking guidelines
  • Rear seat entertainment monitor video output terminal (RCA)
  • RCA preamplifier outputs (front/rear/subwoofer)

The DMH-WT3800NEX is expected to carry a street price of $800.

For those who want a large screen on a budget is the DMH-T450EX with 9-inch floating display but without CarPlay and Android Auto.   The mechless receiver includes WebLink and Bluetooth and 13-band graphic equalizer.

The DMH-T450EX also includes:

  • Rear USB 2.0 port for smartphone connectivity (1.5A maximum current capability), audio playback of MSC/MTP devices, and software updates
  • Rear AV input
  • Rear camera input with selectable/customizable parking guidelines
  • Rear seat entertainment monitor video output terminal (RCA)
  • RCA preamplifier outputs (front/rear/subwoofer)

The DMH-T450EX is expected to carry a street price of $400.
